12 years ago in 2004, Rich Ho graduated as a pioneer student from SMU, started his movie production company, and became the first Singaporean nominated for a Golden Horse Awards “Best International Digital Short Film”. He was appearing in the news every other month, and investors were waiting to finance his next big film project. Then came the fateful day, that brought the fateful question, and he asked, “There must be more to life than this.” And he left the film industry at the beginning/height of his success and disappeared for a long 9-year sabbatical.

    Rich Ho

    Rich is a Golden Horse Awards nominee, an award winning film director/producer and music composer. With nearly 20 years of film and music experience in over 30 different film productions that range from feature films, short films, to documentaries, he enjoys all aspects of making films, from scriptwriting, directing, to music and visual effects creation. Rich has been honing his creative and technical skills to make films that are both artistic and commercially entertaining. Believing that art and business has to go hand-in-hand to create a sustainable environment for creations to exist and survive, he graduated as the Pioneer Batch from the inaugural Singapore Management University in 2014. Armed with a Bachelor of Business Management and major in Marketing, he incorporated Richmanclub Studios Pte Ltd as a movie production studio in June 2014. That year, at only 25, he became the 1st Singaporean to be nominated for the “Chinese Oscars” Taipei Golden Horse Awards for “Best International Digital Short Film”. And in 2006, he became the 1st Singaporean to be awarded a “Gold Award for Digital Art” in the Asia-Pacific wide ACMSIGGRAPH ComGraph which honors achievements in computer graphics artistry. With a distinct flair in Asia for producing and directing films heavy in fantasy and visual effects, his efforts were awarded with a “Special Technical Achievement Award” in the 2003 Hive Film Festival at the age of 24. The films that he directed and/or composed the music have not only been nominated for the Golden Horse Awards, but also been awarded and featured at leading international film festivals across Asia, America, and Europe. In 2013, Rich presents a new story franchise, and a new concept for film making that uses cutting edge technology to revolutionize how films are made. Attracting the confidence and support from various international partners from SONY to NVIDIA, he begins to lead Singapore’s largest international film partnership in the creation of the feature film, “HEAVENS: The Boy and His Robot”- The world’s first movie created in a new way with Graphics Processing Units, and the beginning of the story franchise, “HEAVENS”.
