The Inaugural SMU-Stratagem Group Sino-Singapore Dialogue

 

 

We are proud to announce The Inaugural SMU-Stratagem Group Sino-Singapore Dialogue which will take place on 31 March 2016 under the custodianship of the Wee Km Wee Centre at the Singapore Management University. This event will mark the first of a series of ten dialogue sessions in collaboration with Stratagem Group. Speakers from each SMU-Stratagem Group Sino-Singapore Dialogue will include retired senior government officials, established academics and renowned businessmen from China.

 

This dialogue will foster discussion and debate on China’s bilateral relations with Singapore, the Southeast Asia region, and China’s impact on the world stage. In this series, presenters and speakers will consist of senior members and officials of the Singapore and Chinese community. Together, we hope to enhance the understanding and awareness of issues of mutual interests verging on our good, strong trade and business links/connections as the bilateral trade between China and Singapore continues to develop.

    Hu Zhengyue was born in 1953 in Zhejiang Province, and was Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2008 – 2011 in the People’s Republic China.     James T.H. Tang

    Professor James T.H. Tang is Dean and Professor of Political Science, School of Social Sciences, Singapore Management University (SMU). He is a specialist in international relations with special reference to China/Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to joining SMU he was Professor in the Department of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Hong Kong (HKU).   A graduate of HKU, he obtained his M.Phil in International Relations at Cambridge University, and Ph.D. from the London School of Economics and Political Science.   Professor Tang began his academic career at the National University of Singapore in 1988 where he had his first full-time academic appointment. He joined HKU in 1991 and served as Head of the Department of Politics and Public Administration (1999-2002), Dean of Social Sciences (2002-2006), and founding director of the Master of International and Public Affairs programme. Professor Tang also held visiting appointments at leading universities in China, the UK, and the US and was a Visiting Fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington D.C. (2005-06). Professor Tang has published extensively in his field and serves on the editorial boards of a number of academic journals including Asian Politics and Policy, Journal of East Asian Studies, Pacific Review, Political Science and International Affairs of the Asia-Pacific. He is currently working on a project about the implications of the rise of China for international relations theory and regional governance in East Asia.
      邓特抗教授担任新加坡管理大学社会科学院院长兼政治学教授。他也是国际关系学专家,尤其针对中国、香港以及亚太地区进行深入的研究。加入新加坡管理大学前,他是香港大学政治与公共管理学院教授。   邓特抗教授毕业于香港大学,并在剑桥大学获得国际关系硕士学位,并在英国伦敦政经学院获得博士学位。   邓特抗教授1988年开始在新加坡国立大学任教,这也开启了他的全职学术生涯。他于1991年加入香港大学,随后曾担任政治和公共管理院院长(1999-2002),社会科学学院院长(2002-2006),创建了国际和公共事务硕士课程。邓特抗教授曾在中国、英国和美国的知名大学游学任教,并在华盛顿的布鲁金斯学院担任访问学者(2005-2006)。邓特抗教授在专业领域发表了大量的文章,并在多份学术杂志如《亚洲政治和政策》 、《东亚研究杂志》、《亚洲政治科学和国际事务》 担任编委会成员。他目前正在研究的课题是有关中国崛起对国际关系理论以及东亚区域治理的影响。
