    Senior Vice President, Banyan Tree Holdings, is a co-founder of Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, and also pioneered the group’s retail business in 1996 which has since grown to 80 retail outlets worldwide.

     

    She serves also as the Chairperson for China Business Development, where she primarily focuses on the acquisition of new management contracts, and an Advisor to the group on Human Capital Development, where she guides key strategic issues in organisational and human capital capability.

     

    Ms. Chiang is also the Chairperson of Banyan Tree Global Foundation, an associate of Banyan Tree Holdings that was established in March 2009 as the sustainability arm of the group. Her role involves directing and guiding the evolving process of the group’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and its mission to “Embrace the Environment, Empower the People”.

     

    In April 2009, Ms. Chiang, together with Mr. Ho Kwon Ping, was a joint recipient of the Hospitality Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual China Hotel Investment Summit. The award was presented to honour outstanding individuals for a lifetime of extraordinary leadership, accomplishments and contributions to the hospitality industry.

     

    Ms Chiang serves as the Director and Non-Executive Chairperson of Wildlife Reserves Singapore which is the holding company of Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, Jurong Bird Park and River Safari as well as the Chairperson of Wildlife Reserves Singapore Conservation Fund.

     

    Ms Chiang serves on numerous public and private Boards and has won national and international awards for her advocacy in social and community issues. She is a member of the Tripartite Committee on Work-Life Strategy led by the Ministry of Manpower and the Chairperson of Employer Alliance which is a network committed to creating an enabling work environment to empower work flexibility and engagement.

    Kirpal Singh

    Poet, literary and cultural critic, and university lecturer in English language and literature, has written and published three collections of poetry and edited many literary journals and books. He was a founding member of the Centre for Research in New Literatures, Flinders University, Australia in 1977, the first Asian director for the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize in 1993 and 1994, and chairman of the Singapore Writers’ Festival in the 1990s.

     

    He is currently an Associate Professor with the Singapore Management University (SMU). He is also the Director of the Wee Kim Centre in SMU that promotes a deeper understanding of the impact of cultural diversity upon the business environment. Internationally recognised scholar whose core research areas include post-colonial literature, Singapore and Southeast Asian, literature and technology, and creativity thinking.

     

    He has won research awards and grants from local and foreign universities. His research articles and critical writings have been published in international journals such as Ariel, Diogene, Commonwealth Novel In English, Literary Criterion, Quadrant, Southern Review and Westerly. He has written three books of poetry and edited over 15 publications, including the prestigious literary journal, World Literature Written in English. He has attended international writers’ festivals in Adelaide, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Toronto and Kent, to give readings of his works. He had the distinction of being the first Asian director of the prestigious Commonwealth Writers’ Prize in 1993 and 1994.

     

    In addition, Dr Singh is a member of several international literary journals and associations. Currently, he is also involved in conceptualising and promoting creative thinking in Singapore’s undergraduate education system, at the Singapore Management University (SMU). In 2004, Dr Singh became the first Asian and non-American to be made a director on the American Creativity Association’s (ACA) board.

    Dr Ting is a medical doctor, serial inventor of medical devices and an author. He is in private practice in Singapore for more than 20 years. BPro device is the first wrist-worn device capable of capturing 24hr BP readings and Pulse waveform analysis both at the same time. This patented invention which is FDA approved has won Awards from World Economic Forum and Frost & Sullivan as Monitoring Technology of the year 2007. BPro is now commercialized in more than 25 countries in the world.

     

    Dr.Ting’s other inventions includes a non-invasive blood glucose monitor, a smart needle for intra-articular injection and a mobile ER vehicle for mass casualty that is now the standard deployment in the Singapore Homeland Defence Force.

     

    Dr.Ting has also pioneered the technique of Visco-supplementation for the treatment of OA knees since 1991. He has done more than 25,000 knees to date and has written a handbook for doctors. It was launched in Beijing in August 2007.

     

    Dr.Ting is still actively involved in clinical practice, spending half his time in the clinic and the other half in research.

     

    In April 2008, he founded the Singapore Fellowship Of Inventors (S-FOI), together with a core group of members when they held the first meeting on 26th April 2008. The group has gained in momentum and is planning its inaugural convention on 16th August 2008. – “INVENT SINGAPORE “

    Prof Pang Eng Fong has a PhD (Labour and Industrial Relations), University of Illinois. He is currently the Professor of Management, Practice for the Lee kong Chian School of Business  in Singapore management University.From 2006 – Dec 2008, he was the Dean Lee Kong Chian School of Business Singapore Management University. In 1994-1996, he was also Ambassador of Singapore to the Republic of Korea and Mongolia. He has attained many awards and honors over the years including his Distinguished International Alumni Award, Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations from the University of Illinois in 2007 .
